Youth and Junior Elite Team
The Youth Elite Program (ages 12—15) requires a greater commitment level than the Youth program. Practices are conducted at a higher frequency and intensity. Time standards and 90% attendance must be met regularly. Youth elites are prepped for competition at local, regional and national levels. Athletes in this age group are helped to realize and believe in their potential, set goals, develop bike handling and drafting skills and increase speed. Collectively working in a team atmosphere promotes camaraderie and spirit as well as subtly promoting responsibility of accepting and working toward both team goals and individual goals. Where possible, these athletes will race in ITU-style draft legal races including the Youth Elite National Championship.
The Junior Elite Program (ages 15-19) requires a full commitment to triathlon. Practices are conducted at a higher frequency and intensity. Time standards and 90% attendance must be met regularly. Junior elites are prepped for ITU competition at local, regional, national and international levels. Athletes will work closely together in a team atmosphere honing their skills of group swimming, cycling and drafting. Athletes are expected to participate in local events and designated travel events as well as the Regional and National Championships. Coaches will appoint 4—5 qualified 16-19 year old athletes in each gender to compete internationally. Top level athletes will focus on international competition in preparation for World Championship level races.
